(This only works with an AirPort Extreme base station from 2007 or later, or a Time Capsule from 2008 or later with the latest (7.4.2) firmware installed.) The router then listens for any attempt to connect to the IP address. When a Mac running Snow Leopard is put to sleep, it attempts to hand off ownership of its IP address to its router. Snow Leopard provides a way to do this without leaving any of my computers running all day. (For this to work, the "Wake for Ethernet network administrator access" checkbox must be checked in the "Energy Saver" preference pane in System Preferences.)

To wake my Mac Pro remotely, I ssh into the laptop, then send the magic "wake up" packet to my Mac Pro. My solution has been to leave a smaller, more power-efficient laptop on at all times on the same network as my Mac Pro. It is possible to wake a sleeping Mac remotely, but doing so requires being on the same local network. But I do want to have access to the files on my Mac when I'm elsewhere-at work, on the road, etc. If you don't see any such output, no sleep proxy is available.I don't like to leave my Mac Pro turned on 24 hours a day, especially during the summer in my un-air-conditioned house. The name of each proxy is at the end of the line. Timestamp A/R Flags if Domain Service Type Instance Nameīelow that is a list of the Bonjour sleep proxies advertised on the network. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any one of the following ways: Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:Ĭopy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. This procedure will check for such a proxy. Navigate to SystemConfiguration by going to Go > Go to folder and typing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/. In order for the computer to wake up automatically for network access, there must be a Bonjour sleep proxy (such as an AirPort base station or Apple TV) on the local network. Check the Power Management settings on the Mac you want to wake up.

Slowly i think about a hardware / software issue from the iMac 😐Īre there any additional points i can check, test or reset? I also tested another clients (win) on the same network, and it works perfect there. So i tried different ways to use WOL with the iMac like WOL by local network, WOL by dyndns, WOL by router interface, WOL by Teamviewer, WOL by ipad app and so on. Router enabled WOL and port forwarding UDP Port 9 to iMac IP, also dyndns is correct configured.
